Listeria spp. Sample Processing Workflow

What Happens When a Listeria spp. Sample Arrives:

This is for Listeria spp. AOAC PTM 020401

Validated Conditions Check:

Upon arrival, the sample’s temperature and client supplied sample date are checked to make sure everything is within validated conditions. 

Sample ID Verification:

We confirm that the sample identifiers and requested tests on the submission form match the labels and details on the actual sample. 

Enrichment Phase:

The sample is incubated in selective growth media at 30°C for 40–48 hours to allow any Listeria spp. present to reach detectable levels.

Aliquot Transfer and Heating Step :

Each sample is removed from incubation, and an aliquot is transferred to a separate tube for heat treatment at 95–100°C for ten minutes.

Cooling Step:

The sample is removed from the heat step and allowed to cool for ten minutes before proceeding to analysis. 

Analysis Step:

A special test strip is placed in the tube for ten minutes, and the results are read and by one of our microbiologists. 

Documentation:

Results are documented on our tracking form. Reports are made, reviewed, and sent as a pdf via email to our clients.
